How to look gorgeous without makeup!

Sometimes you just don't want to wear a whole lot of makeup. Your want to have a day off, let your skin breathe BUT you don't want to look like a troll. I have the thing for you!

Looking great sans makeup seems like a bit of a mission but with a few easy steps you could be looking better already without any concealer in sight!

Exfoliate and cleanse your face.

Cleansing your skin will help it feel healthier, cleaner, smoother and it can help to give you a more radiant complexion.

Whether you do it whilst you shower or you do it in the sink, it doesn't matter, so long as you do it! I like to use an exfoliating brush that uses vibrations to thoroughly but gently cleanse the skin and remove the build up of dead skin cells. You can also use a homemade coffee scrub, or a regular facial scrub with warm water to rinse. Exfoliate and cleanse your face using gentle circular movements with your finger tips.

P.s. For added benefits, after cleansing gently pat the face in quick movement, enough to make bit of a slapping sound and to tingle the skin - within reason though, don't slap too hard. This can help to stimulate the blood flow to the skin and help give it a rejuvenating effect.

Tone your skin.

After cleansing your skin it is now time for a toner. A toner is a liquid used to remove any excess impurities from the skin that weren't removed during cleansing, and to help close the pores back up.

There are two methods for toning. You can use a bottled toner and pour some onto a cotton pad and then wipe it over your face or you can use a toner in a spray bottle, spritz some onto the face and then gently wipe a cotton pad over your skin.

I love using natural products, so the toners that I recommend are witch hazel for oily to normal skin and rosewater for normal to dry/sensitive skin.

Now its time to return the moisture to your face! After using your facial toner, while the skin is still damp you can apply your choice of moisturiser. I prefer a natural brand and because i have sensitive dehydrated/dry skin, I like to use a combo of moisturiser and face oil. I use a 100% reship oil.

If you are using a face oil, then apply that first. Taking care to distribute it evenly to the face and then gently pressing it into the skin. Then follow up with your moisturiser. If you have oily skin I recommend skipping the face oil step.

Try giving your cheeks bit of a pinch to help encourage a bit of natural blushing!

Give your lips some attention.

Now is the time to brush your teeth, at the end of brushing after you have rinsed your mouth and toothbrush - use the toothbrush to softly brush your lips in circular motions. This will help to exfoliate them and encourage the blood flow which will help plump them and give them some colour.

Follow up with an intensive lip treatment product. I recommend applying some Egyptian Magic or some Elizabeth Arden 8 Hour cream or Rosebud Salve. This products are non sticky but are filled with moisturising ingredients and will give your lips a glossy appearance and stop them from drying out again. This is tried and tested, and nearly all makeup artists I have worked with will prep your lips before makeup with one of these products.

Groom your brows.

Use a brow brush or even an old toothbrush to groom your brows up and out.  Such a simple step can make such a difference when it comes to looking groomed and put together.
Set your brows in place with some clear mascara or if you don't have any you can spray some hairspray onto a brow brush. But beware if you have sensitive skin as this may cause irritation!

Consider adding some clear mascara to your eyelashes as well if you have some. It will cause them to look more groomed and a little bit wet, which will create the illusion of a fuller lash line.

Gloss and Glow.

Apply some of the lip product that you used earlier. Using some Egyptian magic will add a glossy look to your skin and create a natural strobing/highlighting effect. Apply sparingly to the cheekbones, cupids bow, bridge of the nose and under the brows.

Hydrate your eyes.

Using some saline, non-medicated eyedrops will help clear and brighten your eyes to help you look more awake and fresh!

Groom your hair.

Having well groomed hair may be one of the major keys to pulling of this look. Messy unkempt hair can ruin your look and make you look disheveled, but not in an elegant way.

And viola! Not a drop of makeup insight, besides some clear mascara. You can now go about your day looking better than you woke up, without a face caked in makeup. Your skin can breathe and you can keep everyone guessing how you get that 100% natural, healthy glow!
